1895 British antique sterling silver chatelaine eyeglass case by Colen Hewer
SKU: 202409144697
We would like to introduce you to an antique British sterling silver chatelaine case.
A chatelaine is a type of accessory worn by ladies and worn on the waist by inserting it into the belt.
Women's clothes at the time did not have pockets, so they carried pens, sewing tools, and other items in these pouches.
This is a work by Colen Hewer of Chester, England, from 1895.
The entire piece is decorated with beautiful relief carvings featuring scroll motifs.
The belt clip and chain are also made of sterling silver.
It's too narrow to fit modern glasses, but you could probably fit thin items like scissors or a comb inside.
We hope that this once-in-a-lifetime encounter will be a special one for you.
