We would like to introduce you to a British antique cloche.
"Cloche" is a French word meaning "bell," and it refers to a dome-shaped, lid-like tableware used to cover and preserve items such as cakes and cheese.
This is an old cloche from around 1810, made with "Old Sheffield Plate," a silver plating method that predates electroplating, in which a silver plate is attached to a copper plate by heating and compression.
Both sides are engraved with coats of arms and the Latin phrase "DEO DUCE FERRO COMITANTE" (With God as our guide, and the sword as our companion).
The inside has a copper discoloration, which is evidence that it has not been re-plated and is therefore rare.
I hope this "once-in-a-lifetime" encounter will become a special moment for you!
