This is a pipe called a "meerschaum pipe," made from sepiolite produced in Turkey. Initially pure white, it develops a beautiful amber color with use, and its beautiful form has earned it the nickname "Queen of Pipes."
This is a meerschaum pipe with sterling silver mount decorations, intricately carved with a female figure, even down to her flowing hair.
The patina that has changed to the unique amber color of meerschaum with use is proof of its long years of being cherished.
The stem is made of amber, and although there is some deterioration in the screw-in part, it has been repaired with resin.
