A butane hook is a tool that makes it easier to put on a button even when wearing gloves.
Insert the tip of the hook through the hole in the button, entangle the base of the button with the tip of the hook,
The buttoning is completed by slowly pulling the button out of the hole.
It is an antique-like tool that is rarely seen today.

This is a work made by Henry Williamson in Birmingham, England in 1898.
The sterling silver handle is beautifully engraved with scrolls and flowers.
