The annointing spoon is a piece of crown jewelry used in British coronation ceremonies. During the coronation ceremony, this spoon is used to scoop up holy oil and apply holy oil to the new king (queen).
This is believed to have been made to commemorate the coronation of Edward VIII.
This spoon has beautiful detailed carvings on the bowl and handle.
The set of 6 pieces has gold plating throughout and is in good storage condition.
Comes in the original gold-colored trapezoidal case.
