Introducing an antique sterling silver vinaigrette.
Vinaigrette is a French word meaning "vinegar," and is the name given to the small containers used to hold flavoring salts.
This is a work by John Bettridge of Birmingham, England, from 1832.
Both lids and the inner lid are beautifully carved.
The sponge, which appears to be the original, still has a slight scent.

- There is some wear and tear over the whole product, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents and it is in beautiful condition.
There is a thin layer of gold plating remaining inside.
- It has the sterling silver hallmark from the Royal Bank of England on the inside.
The lid opens and closes smoothly and snugly
