This cup is called a christening cup.
It seems that it was given as a birth gift for children born into aristocratic or wealthy families.

This was created in 1851 by Henry Wilkinson of Sheffield, England.
The legs are beautifully decorated with relief carvings of floral motifs.
The cartouche bears an inscription saying that it was a gift from the godfather.
