Antique Floral Repoussé Sterling Silver Vest Case 24g

This solid silver vesta case (portable match holder) is believed to have been made around the late 19th to early 20th century.

Both sides feature deeply embossed, lively Rococo-style C-scrolls and delicate little flowers, created using the repoussé technique, in which the metal is hammered from the reverse to give it a three-dimensional effect. A flowing hand-engraved monogram adorns the central cartouche on one side, reflecting the original owner's personal tasteThe base is fitted with a ridged striker for lighting matches.

The hallmarks are no longer visible due to age, but testing has confirmed that it is solid silver. There are small cracks at the corners of the base and fine scuffs overall, but the lid opens and closes smoothly. Today, it makes a stylish accessory to slip into your pocket and use as a mint or pill case.
